Simply The Best Thrift Store

Simply The Best Thrift Store on 662 Seymour Street is owned by Kamloops Society for Community Living, is open from 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday (closed on Stats & Sundays). Donations can be dropped off between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. We would be very happy to accept just about anything including clean, good condition donations of clothing, accessories, footwear, jewellery, craft items, collections & antiques, tools, household goods, small appliances, toys, smaller furniture, shelving, books, electronics, kitchen wares, audio/entertainment items, etc., etc. We would be very happy to receive your “used” plastic grocery bags and suitable paper for wrapping breakables as well.  Sorry we cannot use newspaper – the ink transfers onto the merchandize.

Because we have limited space, we cannot take big appliances like fridges & stoves, or take extra large furniture like hide-a-beds also no “older style” T.V.’s, computers or monitors, or soiled or ripped mattresses, outdated car seats or cribs.

The main purpose of the thrift store is to generate income, & provide job opportunities and programs for adults with developmental disabilities, but it doesn’t stop there. Due to your support, we are able to help individuals directly & indirectly in Kamloops and other places in the world.  In Kamloops we partner with groups such as the “Y” Women’s Shelter; we also help many individuals and families with essentials through organizations such as Emerald House, E. Fry Society, Mental Health, etc. and donate surplus items to churches, schools, other thrift stores, the SPCA, R.I.H. etc.  We are able to help underprivileged people, and people who are victims of disasters in places such as Vancouver, Africa, South America and the Philippians indirectly through local individuals and local organizations.   Because of generous donations we maintain a “free bin” outside our store, we can keep our prices very low, and we can offer daily specials, including a clothing & footwear “BAG” sale, etc

Our store is fortunate to have approximately 30 dedicated volunteers who put in a total of over 10,000 volunteer hours a year. We take pride in providing a “family” atmosphere. We also have received and still receive help from other KSCL groups like Community Ventures, Greystone, Bike Peddler and the KSCL office whose helping hands are valuable and very much appreciated.  Like the old saying “It takes a community to raise a child”, it takes a community effort to run a successful Thrift Store. A huge thank you goes to all our volunteers, staff, and to all the KSCL helping hands.
